Balham Astro Korf tournament: Athletico Wandsworth 5-3 Highbury - By Rich Hayward
Highbury narrowly missed out on a share of the spoils in their first match of the Balham Astro Korf tournament against Athletico Wandsworth.
Despite leading 3-1 with around 10 minutes to play, Highbury conceded the last four goals of the game to go down 5-3 to an experienced Wandsworth team.
Highbury fell behind early on, before Rachel scored a neat goal to tie the scores at 1-1. Wandsworth piled on the pressure to take back the lead, but it was Highbury who struck next when Olga put away a long shot. With Highbury now in firmly in the ascendancy and looking more like scoring Conor struck to ensure a quick double salvo and an all important 3-1 lead.
Highbury continued to take the game to Wandsworth, but the floodgates opened as Athletico struck two goals in quick succession to level the tie and ensure a nervy final few minutes.
However it was Wandsworth who struck the all important late scores to seal the points with a two minute, two goal double. Final score Athletico Wandsworth 5-3 Highbury.
