Highbury hold out a competitive Supernova 2 to start their latest winning streak. - by Ben Hale
It looked as if it could have been a repeat of the previous weeks performance with Highbury scoring relatively quickly and then the opponents scoring an equaliser to make it 1-1 at the first change of ends. The first pass after the change of ends went swiftly from Ben to Rich who steadied to send the ball sailing through the korf with aplomb. The referee judged it to have been defended. I hope Richards player thanked her when he finally got into position :)
There was another dubious defended call before Highbury, through Rach and Rich scored 2 slick goals that were allowed to stand, making it 3-1, just like the week before.
"That neat little catch, turn and shoot in the feed was one of slickest goals there's been in a long time." - Rach recalling her own goal.
The Highbury defence kicked up a gear at one end while Highbury debutants Dai and Clare started to gel with the old hands of Nick and Olga in attack. They didn't quite put together another goal although their play was some of the best of the day. At the other end Ben, Rich, Rach and Rach (the ringer) were applying the pressure and making supernova make poor shot selections. One rather random long bomb whistled through the korf but it wasn't enough to save Supernova from the forces of a rebounding Highbury.
